While Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh, India, is renowned for its population of Bengal tigers, it is also a haven for birdwatchers. The park's diverse landscapes, ranging from dense forests to open grasslands, provide a rich habitat for a variety of bird species. Here's a glimpse into the avian paradise that Bandhavgarh offers:

**1. Crested Serpent Eagle (Spilornis cheela):

  • A common sight in Bandhavgarh, these raptors are often spotted soaring high in the sky. Their distinctive crest and powerful build make them an impressive species to observe.

            **6. Changeable Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus cirrhatus):

            • This bird of prey is known for its adaptability and is often seen perched on treetops, scanning the surroundings for prey.
                                       

              **7. Red Junglefowl (Gallus gallus):

              • The wild ancestor of domestic chickens, the Red Junglefowl is found in the forested areas of Bandhavgarh. Males are recognized by their vibrant plumage.

                **8. Greater Racket-tailed Drongo (Dicrurus paradiseus):

                • With its long, distinctive tail adorned with rackets, this drongo species is a vocal and agile bird found in the forested regions of the park.
                                

                  **9. Yellow-footed Green Pigeon (Treron phoenicopterus):

                  • These colorful pigeons are often seen in the tree canopies, their yellow feet making them easily recognizable.
                                         

                    **10. White-eyed Buzzard (Butastur teesa): - A medium-sized bird of prey, the White-eyed Buzzard is known for its distinctive appearance and can be spotted in open areas as well as forested regions.

                                      

                    Tips for Birdwatching in Bandhavgarh:

                    • Early Mornings and Late Afternoons: Bird activity is typically higher during these times, making early morning and late afternoon safaris ideal for birdwatching.
                    • Binoculars and Field Guide: Carry binoculars for a closer look and a field guide to identify the various bird species.
                    • Patience: Birdwatching requires patience. Spend time quietly observing the surroundings to spot elusive species.
