Heritage and Name: The reserve gets its name from two significant elements: "Tadoba" is derived from the name of a local deity, and "Andhari" refers to the Andhari River flowing through the reserve. Size: The reserve covers an area of about 1,727 square kilometers, making it one of the largest and oldest national parks in the state of Maharashtra.

Biodiversity: Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve boasts remarkable biodiversity. It's renowned for its thriving population of Bengal tigers and is often referred to as "The Land of Tigers." Besides tigers, the reserve is home to various wildlife species, including leopards, sloth bears, gaur (Indian bison), sambar deer, chital (spotted deer) and a plethora of bird species.   

   

Landscape: The landscape of the reserve is a blend of dense teak forests, bamboo groves, open grasslands and serene water bodies. The terrain creates diverse habitats for the wildlife residing within the park. 

      

Conservation: The reserve has been actively engaged in tiger conservation efforts and it plays a crucial role in the Tiger Reserve Project in India. The park also focuses on preserving the overall biodiversity of the region.
